Cultural Diversity Barometer 2017

Publication Type:

Cultural diversity is one of the key issues in international cultural policy-making. The Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity was adopted by UNESCO in 2001, and in the same year the UN General Assembly declared 21 May World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. In 2005, UNESCO adopted the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions as a binding international legal instrument. To date, 141 UN nations and the European Union have ratified the convention.
On the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity and the UNESCO International Arts Education Week being held from 22-28 May 2017, we asked experts in cultural education from different European countries to give their opinions on issues of cultural diversity.
